One day old
3 months old
To my sweet Jordan,
You are God’s gift to us and everyone who will ever know you. You are four years old and so beautiful, inside and out. You look like a porcelain doll, with your milky satin skin, bright blue eyes, rosy red lips and silky blonde hair. You are one of those rare people who bring joy and laughter wherever you go. You are a happy girl. The most beautiful sounds to me are hearing you sing in the back seat of the car, laugh uncontrollably when I’m tucking you in at night, and talk to your self during ‘quiet time’. You have such a sweet voice.

You say the funniest things: You used to call money-honey’s, Dessert-Zezzert and Yellow-ellow. One day, after listening to ‘I’ll take you there’ on the radio, you told me you wanted me to take you to the slums. I laughed so hard. Oh, and other day you said you were going to sing a song in spanish so you added ‘la’ after every word. You remind me constantly to laugh and enjoy life.

You are seriously the funniest girl I know. Not only do you have the cutest facial expressions, but you say things like: "Aunt sis, my bum hurts." (3 years old); "Mom, your boobs are HUGE (emphatically)"; "When I have kids I will spank them when they're bad and when they're good I will give them chocolate ice-cream";  And my all-time favorite: on mother's day at the beach you went up to Suzanne and said "the sand in my bottom is making me nervous."

18 months old
31/2 years old
I love how at the end of the day, your shirt is completely covered with food, drink, paint, or dirt. You live to the fullest. I love that you are a girl who knows what she wants and has no fear in asking for it. Every day you get in the car after school and ask two things. First, you ask me to play your favorite songs which include: “Every Move I Make”, “I’m Free” by Kenny Loggins, “(shorty) I’ll Take you There” by Sean Kingston, and “Country Road” by Jack Johnson and Paula Fuga. You like variety, that’s for sure. The second thing you ask is where are we going to eat lunch. Then you begin to list the choices as if it’s already decided we’re going out to eat: “Chic-Fil-A, 5 Guys, Target, Skinny Petes, McDonalds” You are most passionate about MUSIC AND FOOD. You are a girl who lives passionately.

Just turned 4 years old!
I love how you love. You adore your sister, watching her every move and stealing her clothes and shoes every chance you get. I love hearing the two of you playing together. You are constantly leading the playtime saying: "pretend that..." then, "pretend that you said..." You write the script for Kendall to act out.

You are crazy about your daddy. My absolute favorite memory of the two of you is when daddy was holding you and dancing with you. When I saw you, I said “awe, Jordy, you’re dancing with your daddy” and you looked up at me with complete resolve and stated: “he’s not my daddy, he’s my come-true.”  You were about 21/2 years old and he’s still your come-true. You share a special bond with your daddy and you've married him more times than I can count.

You yearn for mommy in the middle of the night when you want to snuggle or when you scrape your knee or when you want to tell a story. You will put those sweet hands on my face and turn my head to face you and in the most serious tone, say: “mommy, listen to me.” You teach me so much about giving my eyes to others and I'm forever grateful. I learn from you. One morning in particular you taught me a lesson. We were getting ready for school and our conversation went something like this:

Jordan: "Jack raises his voice in class."
Mom: "Oh, he does."
Jordan: "yeah, kind of like you do."
Mom: "so I raise my voice? I will try to work on that."
Jordan: "you need to pray about that."

You love your family and your friends, too. Each time we go to the church you have to visit every one in their offices. You just bring a ray of sunshine to their days, light them up with your smile and kindness.

Jordan, you are my baby girl and I love you with everything I've got. You have brought radiant light to our home. I pray for you this song I used to sing when I’d rock you to sleep at night:

“Give her a pure and holy passion. Give her one magnificent obsession. Give her one glorious ambition for her life- to know and follow hard after you. May she know and follow hard after You, and grow as your disciple in your truth. Show her that this world is empty, pale, and poor, compared to knowing you, Lord. Please lead her on, so she will run after You.”
